Adopting A Healthier Lifestyle Is A Marathon, Not A Sprint

Adopting A Healthier Lifestyle Is A Marathon, Not A Sprint

A lot of people want to lead a healthier lifestyle or perhaps change a part of their appearance via fitness and proper nutrition, but what some fail to realize is, it doesn’t happen overnight. In this already fast-paced world, a lot of us expect everything too soon, including results. While somethings can be done with a click of a button, leading a healthier lifestyle and achieving goals takes time.

This reality check can lead many to give up their progress due to the fact that they simply do not want to wait around for things to change. You cannot lose 10 pounds in 10 hours, nor can you grow a larger butt in a day. Everything takes time and the faster you understand that the faster you can achieve your results.

Keep in mind, even after you achieve your fitness and lifestyle goals, the marathon still continues. You have to continue to push your body and keep your good habits in order to maintain the level of fitness and diet you have achieved. While this may be hard to do, you have to always remember why you are on . the journey and adopt a positive mindset.

How to change your mindset toward health and wellness

Step 1: Understand that you have the power to modify your response. You don’t have to force yourself to do something you do not want to do, nor do you have to be in a slump over things your body requires. Find ways to see the good in what you do. For example, going up in weights is going to be a lot harder, but it will help you become stronger.

Step 2: Find opportunities to be positive; concentrate on . what you CAN do as oppose to what you CAN’T do. For example, if you can’t deadlift 225 pounds, but you can deadlift 135 pounds, focus on the fact that you CAN lift a considerable amount of weight as opposed to kicking yourself over not lifting more currently. Same goes with diet; don’t think about all the junk food you cannot have, instead, think about all the good, clean foods you can have.

Step 3: Stop seeing exercise as something that you are forced to do. When you have this mindset, the idea of eating healthy and exercising becomes stressful. This can allow us to become enemies with exercise and proper diet and nobody wants that. Instead, realize that you have choices when it comes to how you workout and eat.

Step 4: Make your positive health choices create a domino effect; consciously make them bleed into and affect the rest of your life.

Step 5: Reframe setbacks; use your hurdles as opportunities to learn and grow. Your mistakes can help you make better choices in the future so it is good to reflect on them instead of getting down on yourself.

Step 6: Aim to trend positive. Some days will be better than others and that is completely normal. Continue to work on creating more of the better days; days where your habits are better than others.

Step 7: Stay in your own lane. In a world where we are constantly surrounded by people; whether it be in real life or online, it is easy to fixate on what others are doing. While it is good to admire others, remember that you are in charge of what you do. What works for others may not work for you. Do what makes you happy and what has positive effects on YOUR journey.

Step 8: Stop judging yourself and others. The fear of being judged can be debilitating and can become another hurdle in your progress. Be happy with what you are doing and respect what others are doing.

Step 9: Have a personal mantra prepared when needed, use it to give yourself a stern talking-to.
