DR. SCOTT’S BIO

Dr. Ryan Scott created the A4A Therapy Clinic with the idea that all patients deserve the best care for injuries and conditions. He also believes that the best available research and treatment techniques should be available to all those who need it.

  1. When did your athletic career begin? My athletic career began at an early age playing hockey, tennis and all sports.  I came into my own in High school playing baseball.  I was raised around health and fitness as my father Allan Scott is a well-known and respected expert in the fitness field.  So, needless to say, health and fitness have always been a part of my life.
  2. What adversity have you had to overcome as athlete?Injuries have been a part of my athletic endeavors since a young age.  I grew quickly and as a lanky kid had my first knee sprain at age 13.  I have always used times of injury as a challenge to come back stronger.  At age 18 I had a bad water skiing fall that put my back into severe spasm.  It was then I first visited a chiropractor, who helped me return to health quickly.  After that I knew that is what I wanted to do, so I became a chiropractor myself.
  3. How has working out impacted your life?Working out has kept me healthy and active.  It has always let me play whatever sport I wanted, and it brings me energy and joy.  Now that I’m a father it allows me to keep up with my kids and stay active and model good habits with them.
  4. How often do you train and for how long?Recently I have become reborn in the gym.  I work out daily.  At least 30 minutes, but typically 45 minutes to an hour and 15 minutes.  I vary body parts, intensity and focus on a daily basis, to keep it fresh and to allow ideal rest and work periods.
  5. What is your number #1 fitness tip? I have also recently had a revelation on fitness. While obvious on the surface, I put it to the test, and really discovered the importance of nutrition in working out.  What you fuel your body with is 90 percent of the battle.  You can’t out train a bad diet.

Lorne’s Take – I first met Ryan about 5 years ago and see him periodically for tune ups 🙂 Ryan makes an excellent point about workout variation. It’s great to see people who practice what they preach.  Ryan has got himself in great shape and I’m a big fan of his and the entire A4A Team.
