John Paul Catanzaro: from Goaltender to Fitness Guru

My Personal “Fitness Guru” and one of Toronto’s most respected Personal Trainers John Paul Catanzaro shares how he got into weight training and the Fitness Industry.

JP back was a competitive goaltender early in his athletic career. At around the age of 13, his back started giving him problems. JP got referred to a Physiotherapist and former trainer for the San Fransisco 49ers to help remedy things. He recommended JP start lifting weights and designed his first program, which included one of his future signature exercises “Squats” and his passion for weight training was born. He went on to study Kinesiology which enabled him to further build on his passion.

In University JP’s studies zoned in specifically on strength training, which veered away from the aerobic craze that was the focus of many of his classmates JP parlayed his education and passion for fitness to develop a very successful Personal Training practice and become a real influencer in the Canadian Fitness space.
